Mosaic Atlanta

Spring 2025
Partial Victories

Hello, Everybody.

The most interesting news this weekend is that Trump is (reportedly) leaving Minnesota. It’s not over yet as organizers on the ground say immigration enforcement is very active, but we’re heading into what promises to be a violent and stressful and chaotic year as the project to establish an authoritarian dictatorship isn’t going to go away anywhere.

A damn shame we have problems closer to home. In Social Circle Atlanta, they’ve built a massive warehouse and plan to cram 10,000 people into a tiny town. It seems like a sanitation nightmare out in the middle of nowhere especially if the heat’s going crazy in the middle of nowhere.

If you’re interested, join our ICE working group and we’ll connect you to a flurry of activity.

📣 Field Updates

Cargill Blockade

This is international news that caught my interest. In Brazil, it’s the third week of a massive 700-person blockade of US agribusiness company Cargill over the dredging of the Tapajos River and other major Amazon tributaries. There’s been a temporary suspension as of Friday to suspend these plans, but there hasn’t been anything written down yet.

Here’s another situation where the powerful are in retreat and the people who are effected know better.

Community Connection

I’m not really sure. Maybe talk to you more? I know that as I go from door to door or do in person discussions that I’m able to motivate people a little more thoroughly. So I want to do that more consistently.

I’ve had some great results just knocking in my neighborhood. Hey, would you like to visit?

🌈 What’s Next

Speaking of which, I want to really be tighter connected. I find that, as always I’m doing stuff way way faster than I can talk about it or share it, and if I want to include people I need to.

New Projects & Capacity

I started a new job or two. I want to make sure everybody knows what I’m doing, how to do it, etc. I’m doing a presentation on cooperatives and the solidarity economy at the end of the month, and I’m also expecting to be at the Atlanta Free Fair.

I often wonder, do y’all want to do more or less?

Like, if I find patches of dirt for y’all to get dig around in across town, will you bring a shovel? A lot of you have met me in East Atlanta, and I would really like for people to start making local groups. There is definitely the capacity – and this can be done in the way that we can all collaborate in getting people involved.

The central group can provide quite a lot of support to you in your local neighborhood with stuff like printing. And then you call it whatever you want locally and if they’re motivated, get them paying dues here. I mean, you know?

🖥️ Tools & Infrastructure

So, big first step to that is letting you talk to each other, and not being constantly on Facebook! So hey, here’s a community portal. I really made it especially for helping keep committees intact and putting a bunch of vital “how to organize” stuff off google and in a self hosted platform.

🚫 End GILEE Town Hall

Georgia State University is funding and facilitating a deadly law enforcement exchange program called GILEE. In light of recent events, the connection between GILEE and ICE has become increasingly visible. Across their many uniforms and jurisdictions, policing institutions continue to function as agents of state violence and adversaries to our communities.
